Questions about LEC games availability

Postby Mr Visitor » Jan 24, 2002 @ 3:56pm

I bought the Monkey Island Bounty pack last weekend
(The one with monkey 1,2 and 3 on CD in a huge box!)

Monkey 1 and 2 work fine with pocket scumm, with the copy protect on monkey 2 accepting any value.

I havent played them on the PC yet, so I cant tell you what the sound/speach (if any) is like.

I'll give it a go tonight and report back!

I also bought the S&M (oo-err!) and DOTT double pack, but I haven't tried them yet.

Mr Visitor,

I'm not sure if you've been helping Andy test as well, but if you haven't then the public release doesn't have sound.

Interesting to note that Sound on non-iPAQ arm devices is better because you can hear the speech in DOTT and Sam&Max (no music in S&M). On the other hand I'm using the equivilant of a Toshiba e570, which does very well in reviews specifically for its sound.

It'd be stunning if either MI1 or 2 had speech, where exactly did you get your copy since I'd even go so far as to order it from the states if the speech is there =). Same for 'Fate Of Atlantis'.

Mark,
no I havent been testing the PPC version - what I was going to test was if my copy of Monkey 2 had voices (when running on my 'big' PC)

However, if anyone wants me to test any PPC releated bits (iPAQ 36-something) then drop me an email (andrewbates1@hotmail.com)

having troubles in 2000 and xp?

People using windows 2000 or XP should try using vdmsound while playing lucasarts games
If you get midi through your pcspeaker instead of through your soundcard try making a bat file and type the name of the game exe followed by 'r'

for example:
monkey2 r

the only game where this doesn't work is Sam and Max
