Noogio Bros.

Noogio Bros.

Postby gregmills » Aug 21, 2004 @ 5:46pm

OK, Has anyone checked to see if the Noogio Bros. custom level works with Snails 2.0 in WM2003? This is the second custom level that I've tried to install and the second one that didn't work.

Sands at least showed up in the choose level screen but Noogio Bros doesn't seem to be recognized at all.

My problems with custom levels follows my problems with online multiplayer. Snails is a great game to begin with but I'm having a terrible time getting any of the extra features of the game to work.

Doesn't work on my h2215. But I did get the Hansel & Pippin level to work (but no music).

This isn't the games fault, or PDAmill's, these levels work fine. These are custom, Unofficial levels, that aren't being maintained correctly.

the noogio borthers has some major problems in the .lev file.

First, delete that crap at the top, its unecessary.. then change the middle to:

[LEVEL]
InternalName = "noogio"
Name = "Super Noogio Bros."
Description = "Hidden in the Sewers is a deadly secret dimension having the power to transform Schnoogie into a 16-bit console world (and create expensive lawsuits)"
Background = "levels\noogio\noogiobg.zbm"
Foreground = "levels\noogio\noogiofg.zbm"
LoadScreen = "levels\noogio\NLoad.zbm"
Preview = "levels\noogio\noogiosm.zbm"
Music = "noogio.xm"

Change the ridiculously long titled 'Noogio Bros Loading Screen.zbm' to Nload.zbm

put the noogio bros lev file in the levels folder, and the noogio folder in there as well. Loads up with music and everything fine.

As for the Hansel and Pippen level music, place the teo.xm file in the music folder (create one in the snails root folder if there is none) and change the hansel.lev file to say:

Music = "teo.xm"

This is the authors fault for not having their .lev files working correctly, not anyone elses.

Have fun.

My assumption was that the "Noogio Bros." file at snails.pocketmatrix.com worked at one time and hadn't changed. Therefore, it must be incompatible with the newer version of Snails that I am running. So did the level never work, or did the author change the file to something that didn't work anymore, or was there some change on the PDA mill side that made the level unusable in the new version?

If is it was a change in the new version of Snails then fine but it's a little disingenuous to place fault on the level author for not keeping up. He probably wasn't even aware that it was no longer compatible.

The .lev file was pointing one of the images to a wrong directory and should have never worked.

However, one of the earlier versions of Snails ignored this error and just showed a blank picture, instead of not loading it at all.

The latest version of Snails checks the .lev file for errors, and if one exists with some of the images, it won't show up on the levels in the game.

It could be argued both ways, but since the original .lev file wasn't correct in the first place, I blame that first.

Irrelevant, it works fine on mine now ;)

I did everything exactlty like Jaybot described and the level worked fine except that I couldn't hear the music. GRRRR!

But then I realized I had turned the music off in my preferences. :oops:

Both Shifting Sands and Noogie Bros work perfectly now. Thanks! Now if we could just get that online multi-player working in WM2003. ;)

I'm working on it, I promise.

It's just going to take a while longer...

Sheep Trans

Noogio Bros. might work, but can you fix Sheep Trans.? It has a .dat file in place of the .lev.
