I was mainly referring to their desire to utterly crush all competition using any means, whether illegal or immoral.<br>My company has shelled out around $1000 for CE development tools supporting CE 1.0 and up (that of course is just for the software tools). The only reason eVC++ is free is to compete with Palm during this extremely critical phase where MS is trying to gain dominance in the new market. After Palm only controls a trivial piece of the market, the tools will no longer be free.<br><br>A perfect indicator is VC++, which is hardly free. If anything, VC++ should be free, considering how many millions (billions?) of Windows based machines are out there.<br><br>Dan East

You're probably right.  It benefits the underdog to get people to develop for the platform.  Is the Palm SDK and compiler free?<br><br>I'd like to have VC++ for free, however if MS were to do that, they would probably be drug into court by other dev tool vendors saying they couldn't possibly compete in the marketplace if MS was dumping its tools which were being subsidized by the revenues from the operating systems.  Wasn't this an arguement about IE being offered for free when Netscape was charging $10 or some such?<br><br>If somebody charges too much, it's gouging.<br>If somebody charges too little, it's dumping.<br>If somebody charges the same amount, it's collusion.<br><br>
