It happened again, I just stared at the screen the game will 'move' for a while then stop, after around 5 mins the games resume back to normal.

Wow, it doesn't stop for nearly that long on mine - it's probably closer to only 15-20 seconds. It might just be a function of device speed and tower size, though - my tower is only mid-sized, and my hp2215 is the second fastest device on the market, perhaps these things combined help to alleviate the problem for me.

I sent a saved game file earlier today to demonstrate the unit placement bug; it is this same file in which I experienced the fire delay. In reality, the delay might be closer to 10-15 seconds, I didn't time it exactly. The game doesn't exactly 'hang', it does manage to update the clock three or four times while it looks like it's hung, but pretty much the whole tower stops moving and the controls stop responding.

i had the same prob on my Toshiba E570. fires cause the game to lock up everytime. Mostly just for 30 secs-2 mins but the last time I had to soft reset and lost a lot of progress.

Well, an update from my end
After observing the phenomenon a few more times, I can tell you that the game is not locking up per se, but rather that whatever happens when you click 'deploy' is dominating CPU usage. On my HP 2215 it takes 5-40 seconds to deploy (depending upon tower size), and during that time, the game does continue to update, but it literally skips many seconds worth of frames in-between updates, and if you're not watching closely, the updates are far enough apart that the game may indeed appear to be locked up. Hope that this information is useful!

okay, I can go one better anyway. I got a fire, the game locked up, when I got it back I set the maintenance dept on it. the fire has stayed burning for a month now and I've even built a maintenance dept right next to it. there are firefighters at the scene but the fire doesnt diminish or grow.
