Gameboy DS

Postby mrchampipi » Oct 18, 2005 @ 11:08am

I'm about to finaly buy the DS.
Apart from the fact that I'm a huge nintendo fan, what pushes me to do so is the wifi system and the upcoming games that will use it. Mario kart and Animal crossing online: woohoo, by by social life! I find it amazing that you'll even be given the option to play games that you don't even own through this, just like you can do multyplayer with only one cardridge.

I'm a big Nintendo Fan but I I I I I would suggest you a PSP instead of the DS. Sure it the DS has the games we all love, but you can run DIVX, SNES, GBA, NES and more on the PSP with a single 1gb memorystick. This is what I call features lol, you can even run your ISO backups of your bought games with some nifty programs. I tried both, they all own but the PSP has my vote.
No, I've never seen that, I've never seen anyone drive their garbage out to the curb and bang the hell out of it with a stick. No, I've never seen that.

My psp used to do all that, but if you buy any of the new games, they force the upgrade (1.5 something), which makes the emulators not work. The only way to make it worthwhile is to buy 2. One for emulators, and one for psp games.

I see your point but my ppc already do those things. If I buy a new handheld console, it will be for gaming.

Ths psp do is amazing though, and I understand why a lot of ppl prefer it to the DS. I almost colaps when I tried Wipeout pure on my friend's psp.

They made a loader which makes the psp think you have 1.5 by changing some adresses. It'll be out soon. I don't know how the hell I know that nor why I actually answer to this while I have no DS and no PSP. Weird...

I have to say that the DS currently is killing the PSP in game and system sales I believe, and honestly the games I'm really waiting for havent even come out yet but they are quite close to release along with the online network.

Unique games are why I bought this system and I have 0 regrets. When the online network finally goes online it should be over.

Not bashing the PSP or anything, but personally, aside from what everybody else said when they first released, the DS is everything I expected and so was the PSP.

One thing I realized is that since they will have hot spots hooked up at venues like McDicks and starbucks and stuff, you can get a bunch of buddies and go out to eat or something bring a some DS's then hook up to the online network together and play together with a bunch of other chumps online, sounds fun to me, as well as somewhat social, at least more so than playing by yourself or with a friend at home. Kinda like a lan party but 1000x better/less geeky since you dont have to lug around a whole pc, just a DS, and you dont have to get food delivered since your probably already at a place that serves food.

I think that in the end, there's one simple way to determine which device you want; If you like racing and fighting games a lot, go for sony/microsoft. If you want more adventure-like games, innovative ideas build into games or anything else that is somewhat special, go for nintendo. It's always been like that and probably always will be.

Besides, most features that they add to the PSP are things we already could do, on a PPC. Those are not really arguments (to me at least) to grab the PSP over the DS.

Now I wonder when sony will starting making 'special' PSP's, like what you can do with the DS... Besides the iPSPod of course ^^.

I hope GTA can live up to it's expectations ;). It did in the past (exceeded it, I might add), but it's the first 'real' GTA game on a portable console, so... :)

Great that they finally decided to add multiplayer. Too bad it's not via internet, but somehow I think those guys who made tools for the xbox and whatnot to multiplayer LAN games via the world wild web will fix that ;).
