The Global Gaming League and ClanBase Announce Major Enhancements to Europe's Most Prestigious Online Tournament: the ``EuroCup''

SANTA MONICA, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- Jan. 4, 2005 New and Improved Tournaments to Offer Live Events and 50,000 euros in Cash Prizes!

The Global Gaming League(TM) (GGL), the leader in competitive video gaming entertainment, and ClanBase.com, Europe's leading competition organizer for online gamers, today announced the 11th "EuroCup" season will feature 50,000 euros in prize money and will culminate in a live final in the summer of 2005 (dates to be determined). The GGL and ClanBase believe this move will further elevate the awareness and participation of the already prestigious "EuroCup" tournaments, which attract the world's top gaming talent.

Created and launched by ClanBase in the spring of 2000, the "EuroCup" quickly became the most prestigious online gaming tournament in Europe. Organized twice a year for the most competitive games only (including "CounterStrike," "Medal of Honor," "Call of Duty," "Unreal Tournament," and others), the "EuroCup" tournaments stand out from other gaming tournaments because of their ability to attract the very best European gamers to the competition. The final teams that progress through an online qualifier are flown to a season-ending "EuroCup" event, with the deciding matches hosted live on a local area network (LAN).

Matches from the online portion of the "EuroCup" season are broadcast live over the Internet using in-game TV broadcasts and Internet radio with live play-by-play commentary and interviews. These broadcasts are followed by many of the 1 million members of the GGL and ClanBase, cheering enthusiastically for their favorite team in the "EuroCup" chat room found on clanbase.com and ggl.com.

"When we launched the `EuroCup' tournaments five years ago, we envisioned a series of online tournaments for Europe's best teams, with each season to be concluded at a live spectator event with prestigious prizes and extensive media coverage," said Filip Camerman, VP at ClanBase. "Now that the GGL is providing their marketing muscle and event organization expertise to the `EuroCup', these events will reach the grandeur we've always dreamed them of being."

"GGL is proud to combine efforts with ClanBase to elevate the `EuroCup' experience for competitors and spectators alike," said Ted Owen, co-founder and chairman at the GGL. "If you've never experienced this new form of entertainment, we encourage you to tune into our live coverage, featuring compelling, pulse-pounding, play-by-play commentary by the GGL's own Marcus `DJ Wheat' Graham."
