July 3rd, 2006. Focusbyte today announced the release of Tuny Engine v1.1.40, a cross-platform real-time audio system with 3D sound support and high quality software MIDI synthesizer for mobile game developers. Tuny Engine now supports Symbian, Windows Mobie and PC platform. Tuny Engine offers most common audio functions like 3D sound API, wavetable MIDI synthesizing, high performance mixing, user stream, pitch control and volume control. Moreover, it features some special functions for mobile games, like the ability to play two MIDI files at the same time. The Tuny APIs are designed to be very intuitive and easy to use. Although the soundfonts shipped with Tuny Engine is very compact already, a tool for removing unused soundfonts is provided so that the games using Tuny Engine can be delivered with a very small package size.

Tuny Engine is priced reasonably relative to the development budget of a typical mobile game. For non-commercial projects, it is free.
