Windows CE 3.0 Source

Windows CE 3.0 Source

Postby Dan East » Aug 1, 2001 @ 12:05pm

I can't seem to find the location to the Windows CE 3.0 source code that MS released a week or so ago. Does anyone have a link to it? Thanks.

Dan East

Dan,
I think I still have it somewhere on my computer. Do you want me to send it over?
-Shape

Thanks guys! I only have a dial-up connection, so I'll just let it trickle down from MS.

Dan East

Dan,
Do you have PB already? The source may not unpack if you don't have at least the eval version of Platform Builder installed.
No, but I got it to unpack on my laptop running Windows 2000. Very useful stuff...

Dan East

That's great news. I didn't want to have to download that PB monstrosity just to look at source code.

I tried it first on my Win 98 PC (which doesn't have eVC installed) and it gave me an error about the installer being the wrong version. So I tried on my Win2000 laptop, and it gave me a similar but different error about the installer version being mismatched. After I dismissed it the installation proceeded. Maybe the version mismatch prevented it from checking if I have PB?

Dan East

The exact InstallShield error on my w2k machine was:
1207: Windows(R) Installer 1.10.1029.0 found.
This is an older version of the Windows(R)
Installer. Click OK to continue.

On the Win98 machine:
1608: This setup does not contain the Windows
Installer engine (INSTMSIA.EXE) required to run
the installation on this operating system.

Dan East

Looks like you need the Windows Installer, which is also required to run *.msi-files...

I have it, let me see where it is. I hope it didn't go with my HD crash too!

I've installed it sucessfully under W2k. I just got that error message, but it let me continue. I could not install it under Win98, which is no problem for me.

Dan East
