I want a Recycle Bin

I want a Recycle Bin

Postby Jaybot » Aug 10, 2001 @ 1:46pm

Because I'm a little reckless when I start deleting stuff to free up some memory... couldn't there just be some simple program that runs in the background that captures files when they are supposed to be deleted, Which I can then empty out when I'm done. I know this may sound silly to some of you; like if I'm trying to free memory, I wouldnt actually free any by putting it in a recycle bin, but it's a heck of a lot easier to put all of the 'trash' in one place and then review it again to see if you want to really delete it. Or perhaps even use some sort of really high Gzip compression when throwing it into the recycle bin, to still save space while you mull over emptying it for a few days.

I don't know, it seems to make sense to me.

Nothing too important. I was being serious though. It would be a nice little program to have .

First off, I don't know why MS decided to do away with the Recycle Bin for Pocket PC (and Palm-Sized PC). All other versions of Windows CE have it.
I don't think it's possible to try and hook into the OS to capture file deletions, as they are just function calls and not Windows Messages or the like.
However, the gzipping deleted files is a good idea...

Dan East

What could be possible would be integrating the Recycle Bin into a file explorer, like Resco's or FTPView, which is what I use. Either of these could handle a Recycle Bin internally fairly easily. Maybe someone could suggest this to them?...
