Descent now runs in a window on my laptop (PII/233) at a very decent frame rate. Looks like it will be quite playable on my iPaq. The laptop has to do some nasty framebuffer conversions: EasyCE expects a 240x320 buffer, so I rotate the descent buffer by 90 degrees, wich is in turn rotated back by EasyCE - These steps are not neccessary on the iPaq, so it should perform about as good as the PII in this case.

It will take a while before it's perfect though, I have palette problems right now, and of course the keyboard and file stuff. Anyway, as soon as I have something running on the iPaq I'll post an alpha release.

We don't want an iCrap release. We want a Casio release! ;D

So Paul, I've been wondering. Why is your signature a picture? I can understand the smily thing, but the text?

The initial release will support Casio and SH3 as well, since it's using EasyCE. :) HOWEVER - On the iPaq I can exploit the already rotated hardware framebuffer to get a higher frame rate. I expect very good speed from the iPaq. Anyway, you guys can optimize it for Casio yourself - Every release will include source code.

Oh yeah, UPDATE: Descent now compiles with the Embedded Visual Tools. I need to add some stuff for location independency (see my latest tutorial), and then I can give it a try. There are some nasty huge data files though. I'll see if I can zip those.

Wow this is neat. I was just thinking how descent might suck on an ipaq with the button problem. Does a kb or a stinger fix the button problem? Becuase descent kicks ass but if you cant fly and shoot than it may suck. tThanks for working on this jacco i think this will make alot of people happy.
