Blackjack issues

Blackjack issues

Postby Cardinal » Apr 23, 2007 @ 12:16am

I've been playing around alot with Edgelib 3.0 and the blackjack and so far I've noticed a few things:

1) the Animate 3D sample takes a good few minutes to load and runs VERY slowly (the fps counter is 0)

2) while the 2D samples run very fast (the blackjack has video acceleration) the button input is a little screwed up. Left/right is up/down and vice versa.

Any insight?

Hi Cardinal,

Can you tell us which version of the Animate3D sample you're using, the OpenGL version, or the version using the Edge internal renderer? Would you like to try the other version and compare the amount of FPS?

Regarding the key input problem:
We've attached a sample, would you mind to run it and post the data you see on screen? Do you need to rotate the device to read the text?

I'm running the internal render version as the blackjack has no 3D acceleration.

I ran the code you posted... here is the output:

Pitch: 2 640
Res: 320 240
RealRes: 320 240
Rotate: 1
Model: SGH-i607
Keys:

I did not have to rotate to view it. I've noticed that only GAPI screws up and requires you to rotate the phone. DirectDraw apps run fine!

Hi Cardinal,

I've created a new version of the test program and attached it.

Would you like to test the new version and see if the results are changed?

Hi Cardinal,

Can you tell me how the keys are mapped? Is there a difference with the first version and do they work OK?

Hi Cardinal,

Thanks for testing, we've fixed the input issue now.

Regarding the slow 3D rendering:
Did you also test using our 2D samples, do they run slow as well? Also, would you like to try out view3D sample and post the framerate?

The 2D samples run fine. The fountain is a little slower but the edge saver runs great.

The View3D takes a very long time to load and the display is rotated 90 degrees counter clock wise. It runs at about 1-2 fps in flat shaded mode. It takes about 4 seconds to switch modes.

Hi Cardinal,

It's very odd that it's just the 3D samples that run slowly.

Would you like to test and compare the following versions?
- The Smartphone 2003 build
- The native Smartphone 2005 build
- The Smartphone 2003 build with rasteroid (rasteroid is a software 3D renderer)
