Quake Mapping (exclude textures?)

Quake Mapping (exclude textures?)

Postby Guest » Feb 5, 2004 @ 5:08am

This is to any quake mappers out there. I'm able to make maps and so on for the ppc just fine, however each map seems to have the textures imbedded in the bsp file. For one map this isn't a big deal but for tons of maps this would quickly become a problem.

I know HL accesses textures from wads and I've made a series of quake1 .wads If all the maps access a single database of textures this would keep bsp maps much smaller. I'm sure quake itself does this as well. In HL you can choose to enable this, but by default it doesn't do this, perhaps its the opposite for Quake?

Thanks!
Caleb

If anyone knows a good quake 1 mapping forum that would be really cool as well!
