is it possible to disable audio for PQ?  and would that in turn achieve a better fps?

Yes, if your device is muted then Quake is also muted. You can turn down Quake's volume in Quake's Settings menu. You can modify the autoexec.cfg file to bind turning the sound off to any onscreen or physical key. The command to turn off sound is:<br>volume "0"<br><br>No, performance is unaffected by the sfx (at least in a measurable way). The first versions of Quake had no sound support. When the routines were added no measurable degradation in performance occured.<br><br>Dan East
