New more accurate benchmark technique

It appears as a little grey/brown ram chip icon in the top left of the Quake game display. On the benchmark it flashes with the MIPS build when you enter the area with the brown lake below. CPU/Polygon intensive area.

Is it the little "Q" loading symbol on the top right, not left? Because I've seen that, it just means loading I thought. I haven't noticed one in the top left, but I'm OC to 180MHz with 8 Storage and 14 Program memory free.

It is a small icon that looks like an IC chip with the letters "RAM" on it vertically. It appears on the top of the screen, offset just slightly left of center.

Dan East

No I haven't seen it and never have. I have an E-125 @ 180MHz currentyl running MIPS version .0041

Run the proper benchmark and when it gets to the 'outer' area and slows right now, watch for the ram icon (as described) to flicker in the position described above. You might not see it, sometimes it's fast, others it sticks.

Try both MIPS builds.

I have never noticed the ram chip on my e-125.

Dan,

According to IDS your info. about the RAM chip is correct, although it should still go away if you increase program memory due to the way PPCs work. Note that you can re-create it on the iPAQ by setting low ram and going into Landscape mode. When you get to the 'outside' area it should show.

Got my Autoexec in order and after OC'ing to 236, I'm hitting some pretty nice numbers for Portrait Mode :)

**TIMEREFRESH**

206
Image

236
Image

**TIMEDEMO**

206
Image

236
Image

You can download this "speed" cfg

999,

You were right, we do have similar CFG's =). I'll have to add the two new commands into mine now =).

Hehe, sounds good ;)

You were credited in the Speed config, which is what I plan on implementing as the default cfg in the next update, whenever that may be.

So for now, the ARM version will be available above, and the MIPS version is available . The Mips verison features the Casio Specific button maps.

While you're at it, change _snd_mixahead to "0.15" for iPaqs. I never trimmed down the value, and the iPaq can generate continuous sound at the lower setting. Casio users might be able to trim their value down a bit also. This will not affect performance, it will just decrease the sound delay a little bit.

Dan East
