Beta 005 is released with a slew of new additions listed below:<br><br>* New Quake variable added: "r_maxparticles". <br>* r_maxedges minimum settable value is now 300 (was 2400). <br>* r_maxsurfs minimum settable value is now 100 (was 800). <br>* Video mode can now be set by variable (vid_mode). <br>* Command line parameters now work (verified). <br>* Additional ~.2 FPS increase by fixed point conversion (D_PolysetCalcGradients). <br>* Additional 1.0 FPS increase by fixed point conversion (R_EmitEdge) <br>* Additional ~.2 FPS increase by fixed point conversion (R_RecursiveWorldNode) <br>* Keyboard mapping now works properly (only the Keyboard SIP is fully functional). <br>* On the iPaq, K_AUX5 (record button) can be mapped to toggle the menu. <br>* New landscape control regions.<br><br>There are some visual artifacts which come up during play, and some items may not appear. This has been noted and will be addressed in the next update. Until then, version 004 will still be available for download.<br><br>

999 noticed another issue with this version. Various items don't appear (stim paks, ammo, etc). Now that I researched it a little further, the rendering artifacts I was seeing are actually items that are rendered totally wrong. If you start a single player Quake game, and browse around the Welcome level, everything will render perfectly. If you start a multiplayer game and look around the same map, you will see visual problems, which are the items that are only there for multiplayer. I'll look into this tomorrow. I may quickly release a 0.51 to correct this if I can isolate the problem.<br><br>Dan East
