Pocket Quake II on Intel® PXA270 624MHz w/ Wireless MMX ??

Postby NikJEHummer » May 2, 2004 @ 3:19pm

Hi. Now we are fighting to win 0.5 fps for great Quake ports on the powerful PPCs w/ XScale 263 processor & ATI imageon graphics chip. But nobody knows what will happen with the FPS count on new upcoming Next Generation Intel® PXA270 processor with MMX® technology!
I can remember the times of 233 pentium's and when the first pentium 233 MMX was released it was the most powerful PC in the world! Every game that lagged on 233, works perfectly on 233 MMX.
Now we can only imagine what FPS count will give to us new PXA270 at 624MHz clock speed MMX processor w/ 100MHz memory bus w/ 128Mb RAM and 2Mb Video Memory ATI® Imageon graphics chip!
BTW new PXA270 will support up to 256Mb RAM! And new Microsoft® Windows® Mobile 2004 for Pocket PC is coming in summer.
So what will happen then??? I think a PocketPC with PXA270 MMX at 624MHz w/ 256Mb RAM and 2Mb Video Memory ATI® Imageon chip will let us to feel free playing our favorite PocketQuake II with 24 or even 30 FPS!
We just have to wait! I think this summer will not be boring :D
P.S. In MMX® we trust!

There's no such thing as WM2004, a small upgrade will come this summer, but that's it. The rest of the things you mention are just rumours.
holy internets batman.

Megahertz is the frequency at which the data is processed. Some architectures can process more data per clock, others can reach higher clock speeds. It means a whole lot, it just isn't the end all and be all.
