There is a registry setting that increases the amount of GDI memory used. I doubled this figure and it raised my FPS by 0.2FPS with a completely blank config file. I'm going to double it again to see what kind of figures I can come up with. Here's the registry setting, you can use Dan East's DEXplor (http://www.dex-plor.com) to edit the registry.

HLM\System\GDI\GLYPHCACHE

Edit the "limit" value, should be 8192. I doubled it to 16384. If you've got a lot of free RAM on your PocketPC then double that again to 32768. Remember to soft reset your device after editting the registry or else they won't take.
I'll be back in a minute to tell you how much more 32KB of video memory helps and give you a little table of the different values.

AMAZING!

with 32768 I got an additional 0.6FPS above the normal speed on my iPaq H3955

8192 = 7.8 FPS
16384 = 8.0 FPS
32768 = 8.4 FPS

8192 is the normal setting that all PocketPCs use by default. Y'all with lots of free program memory better get to it with this setting. This is running faster than it did on my old 486/66! Dare I double the memory limit once more? 65536 ... that's CRAZY! I'm doing it! :D

[EDIT]
65536 = 8.0 FPS
Looks like 32768 is the best value, anything more and it gets to be too much. :( ... oh well! 8.4FPS is fast enough for me, especially when it's just a simple registry hack! :D

This makes it run as fast as regular StrongARM 206MHz, also, or nearly as fast. It's faster than the H3800 series PocketPC and only slightly slower than the H3600 series
