Consumption of hi-sugar foods is the problem. It's amazing how much sugar we add to everything.

I thought it was being overweight that caused it?

So what really causes diabetes is high sugar food?

Well there's 2 types of diabetes, type I and type II, I think its just type II that can be caused by environmental circumastances (sp?!) and type I is heridetary.

We've just implemented a system in the UK where you get a choice of up to four hospitals when having treatment, although obviously in urgent situations you can get treatment anywhere.

In the US I paid like $80 a month for a PPO and never had any problem visiting any doctor I wanted. Doc visits were like a $20 co-pay and prescriptions were quite low as well.

You couldn't pay me to go to an HMO clinic. I've seen them and accompanied friends to them before... not pretty.

As far as diabetes... yeah, hereditary and anyone can cause themselves to do it to themseleves as well. Tons of peopel are on their way and getting hypoglycemia from too much sugar intake as well (which is the first step).

I wonder if you end up getting type II or whatever, if your genes then mutate and when you have offspring, it becomes genetic?

Perhaps it's a genetic predisposition towards an high intake of sugar. Chocolate is addicting, and I'm sure the tendency towards that addiction can be passed on to the next generation through both genes and the environment, just like alcoholism is passed down.

I'm not in favor of insurance companies that don't do you any good. I believe a state led insurance or care program would entitle people to more freedom because it would be more closely regulated and more liberal in its allowances just like that piece of shit social security crap that was invented during the depression. If we're going to have that we might as well have state run insurance. It would probably be better than what we have now, which is not to say it would be good.

If I recall the root cocoa in chocolate meant, in some ancient language that I don't recall, divine food. "I read that somewhere," in pure armchair philosopher character.
