Apple's new products: $99 ipod case, $350 speakers.

A $99 leather case, available for big ipods and nanos. Yeah, both $99. It's not even a good one, considering it covers the controls and the screen - making it totally unusable. Fuck, I could buy a custom Vaja case for less and end up with a case that's 10 times better.

Apple's other 'fun new product'? A $350 set of speakers. Yeah, it comes with a remote and it might sound decent, but that's it. Apple thinks it will replace my stereo - well, it won't, considering there's no FM tuner, no CD player, not even a screen! It's just a fancy set of speakers plus remote. Hell, I could buy the universal dock, the remote, spend $200 on a nice set of speakers and *still* end up paying less for more features.

Did you read the comments at Engadget? Even the Apple fanboys are verbally tearing Jobs a new one.

Moreover, the new mac mini has an integrated video card. *shudder*

Like I've seen posted elsewhere, Apple should NOT have had a special event for this. This is press release material, not get everyone hyped up only to be disappointed material.

To be fair, the 'media' hyped it far more then Apple did. Engadget had 'live, up to the minute coverage!!' and every industry name and wannabe showed up apparently.

Combined with the Apple fanatics and all the rumours going around of video-tablet-iPods and media-center thingamajigs, disappointment was inevitable.

Still, I would be ashamed if I was Jobs. A press event for a goddamn set of speakers, an overpriced leather case and a totally expected Mini annoucement... not cool.

the case is nice but needs to come down in price by 60 odd percent. The rest of the stuff is crap.

the speaker dock is a joke
who cares about mac mini (ooooo 2.5 - 3x faster)
