Does gapidraw support 555 format?

Yes.

Actually, supporting 555 displays was a requirement for GapiDraw to work in 16-bit mode on all Win98/ME systems...

Supporting both formats (555 and 565) adds no performance overhead since templates are used extensively...

pocketFrog, 565 only?

I checked pocketfrog, it is seems that supports 565 only?

Nope, PocketFrog also supports both 555 and 565.

The difference is that PocketFrog has to be compiled for either 555 or 565 surfaces. GapiDraw detects what´s in use and will use that mode automatically. In practice that means that you have to create two versions of your game if you use PocketFrog: one 555 and one 565 version. No big deal really (especially since all Pocket PCs use 565 displays)...

That compile thing was true a few versions ago. Now PocketFrog only uses 565 on all targets. It still works on 555 desktop video card because the color conversion is done automatically by GDI when doing the BitBlt().

I've never seen/heard of any 555 pocket pc display... If one appears, it takes a few seconds to add support.
