so and would it be senseful to have pocketpc2000 on my pocketpc to get quake2 run?
is it possible to "downdate" pocketpc2002?

The newer PocketPC2002 OS has a memory limitation that does not allow Quake2 to cache enough information to play. Quake2 needs atleast 32MB's of RAM, PocketPC2002 restricts a single program's RAM allocation to 21MBs at the most.

Really? I never heard of that issue before, I suppose most (hell, all) programs wouldn't reach that limit for a while yet.

Wonder if it can be hacked around, ala the BE memory limit (in method only, not how the limitation is implemented)
holy internets batman.

It would not be sensible because most applications require PocketPC2002 and PocketPC2002 is much better than PocketPC2000. It's like comparing Windows98 to WindowsME. WindowsME is much flashier and faster and runs all the latest stuff, Windows98 does not.

WinME sucks though, and really has nothing new over 98, besides instability :P

and both would "overload" the memory...
just thinking...
hey why can´t dan make quake run with less memory?
does it needs less if the image quality is lowered?
... couldn´t anyone make something like that?

Read the forums. If you're that blind I don't know how you could enjoy video games.

Fails to runs on QTek 1010

Postby Hussain » Jul 11, 2003 @ 7:44am

I copied all the files to my Qtek 1010 that runs PPC2002, to the SD Card.

Now when I run Quake, the opening screen comes up. After a few seconds, I get a popup that the SD Card is missing and Quake aborts. When I open File Explorer, there are no files being displayed in the card. Nearly gave me a heart attack the first time this happened.
Turned the phone off and on, files were back. Ran Quake again; same situation.

Not sure, it can't be PPCPE since we have benchmarks for the O2.

For the O2 XDA the only solution I have found that works, is to copy the quake.EXE to ROM
ie: windows/start menu/programs/games/quake.exe

and then keep the rest of the stuff in the standard locations.

eg: /Storage Card/Quake/[*.*]/ID1/*.pak etc etc.

Hope that helps.

Stu.
