I had to edit my post because it made it sound like "IR doesn't work", when that isn't entirely true.

Moose, I was able to transmit a 9 meg file via IR without a problem. It took forever, but it got there and wasn't corrupted.

It is a different story when we are talking about sendng data to update a game in realtime. Also, I've noticed interference can really screw things up.

Well, don't worry guys, the IR works, it just that it stops working for some reason when i use it in raw mode after some minutes.
i can only guess why this happens, i don't know for sure. Douglas beck has this same problem with rocketelite, and we don't know how to fix it.

Maybe a pulse mode transfer? Then you get to see the rocket ship bound a couple frames in one.

Alright, here is an idea... ready? Ok-

Why don't you contact an OEM, and see if they can develop some sort of universal cable to connect Pocket PC's for your game? Make sure you bargain with them for price of course and if they make and sell low enough, you can sell Argentum with the cable... Of course that is debatable. There are MANY pro's and con's to that. But what do you think about it IonSide?

-Elad

its a good plan in theory, I would like to see Argentum out this year though after all that testing and developing for the cable it would take forever. It might not be a bad idea to get moving now for future releases though.

Actually, I don't know why there isn't already a direct cable available. That friggen connector on the bottom [of the Casio] should have been a standard USB connector.

Maybe they thought the IR was cool, but it is too slow.

It's almost ISDN speed, and that's 6 times faster than my internet connection. I think that's good enough.

Have you tried using IrSock? It is packet based, and will allow multiple devices to communicate at one time. Being that it is an extension of TCP/IP the same code could be used for internet / direct cable play.

Dan East
