How do I get more building units available? I only seem to have what I start out with: stairs/elevators, condos, hotel rooms, offices, burger joints. No garages, medical units, etc. The build bar won't scroll.

The web site says "Lets you build a commercial, residential or corporate tower". Do I have to choose beforehand somehow, or is it just the building units I choose to biuld?

How do I customize the controls and options?

I guess the same can be applied as in Simtower...you need to get 300 people in your building in order to advance a 2nd star ranking, This will give you more options, don't know which yet but it was like that in SimTower.
You can build whatever combination of building you want...all offices, all condos, a hotel, a mix of some or of all, it's up to you!

OK I had a hunch that might be the case. I'm only at just over 100 population so I can't test that myself yet. It wasn't clear to me whether building options were limited by game progression or not. I do see scroll arrows on the build bar, but they are not disabled even though they do nothing for me.

I think the game is well done but the UI could use a bit more polish. I like to see consistent things like disabling controls that are not applicable. I even hesitate to call this polish, as I consider it to be essential behaviour for an application, but I'll cut some slack for a PPC game.
