Yes. It is intellectual property. Same thing as burning a "backup" copy of any video game CD rom or PS1 CD or even WindowsME/2000 CD.<br><br>But, in this sense, it is also illegal to hack the pak1.pak file and move the pop.lmp file to the pak0.pak, just to save space and use custom maps on your ppc, and this site has multiple threads discussing that illegal activity. <br><br>But, as far as I'm concerned (and MANY others) as long as you own the registered version you can do whatever you want with it. Which is bull, but sounds very similar to as long as you own the original cartridge, you can have a backup rom.<br><br>What makes me laugh is all the people who have MAME at all, which I'm sure Moose having a Microdrive you probably have MAMECE and MAMEBOY, with a whole lot of roms, but I sincerely doubt you have the original PACMAN arcade machine sitting in your home, nonetheless, having multiple arcade machines around the house to befit having all those roms. I don't.
