Hi PDA Scumm fans :wink:

Following <a href="http://www.pocketmatrix.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=15251">your testing</a>, ScummVM release 0.6.0 has been released ! You can download it from http://www.scummvm.org

Main news

* Support for Broken Sword 1
* Support for Broken Sword 2 (experimental in CE build)
* Support for Broken Sword 1 and 2 video cutscenes (I'll include a tutorial to encode a PDA friendly version of these cutscenes shortly)
* Support for Flight of the Amazon Queen (given as freeware in 0.6.0)
* Whole new CE backend code - should be faster and more reliable than before, or at least easier to maintain :wink:
* VGA (E800 and such) devices support - if you wish to play a 320x240 game in 640x480 mode, edit the game properties and change the display driver to 2x, AdvMame2x or DotMatrix - other scalers are not properly supported yet (thanks to Copy for the tests).

Savegame bug ?

Thanks for your great job ! Unfortunately, I have a nasty bug with the latest version (release) with broken sword2 : I cannot load savegames. When I load a savegame and tap on the restore button, scummvm freezes completely... It didn't happen with the previous beta. I am using a Sigmarion3 ( HPC with Ce.net 4.1 ; by the way, on this machine, you can use both the hpc and pocketpc arm builds with some additional dlls and wincesoft gapi). Maybe a workaround would be to use the command line to load savegames, but I don't get it ... :(

yup, I noticed that. A fixed version will be available shortly for all devices. But since you can use the PocketPC ARM build, you can check this :wink:

New experimental ARM build for Broken Sword 2 available here

if things get weird, you can play with the memory_cleanup_threshold value in the [sword2] section of scummvm.ini (usually making it higher will solve problems)

Broken Sword 1 should behave better btw :wink:

I downloaded the latest version and the colors are weird on my Jornada 525 which is a 8bit color machine

Is that so? or you intend to make a version for 8bit as well

I'm very interested by reports from 8 bits testers, since all the rendering code changed ! can you make some screenshots, and tell me what the second About box (in the launcher) displays ?

-Arisme, thanks for your explanation but I didn' t catch what you exactly mean...When I get the error message, I have to kill the Scummvm process, because it won't let me restart any game at all.

-Meste, I am not an expert but I think your problem with the last build of PocketScumm might be due to the small amount of memory of your jornada 525: 16 Mb RAM is really not much nowadays and I think the memory requirement of the 0.6 build is much higher: I can't start scummvm 0.6 at all on my Casio BE300, which also has a small memory. Therefore,I am using the special Christmas build on the Be300, and it runs like a charm, for example with "amazon queen". So my suggestion would be to leave this special Christmas edition available to all users who have "low memory" machines and still want to try some newer games... Of course, if Arisme has a better solution... but if we want new features and games for PocketScumm it might be better to forget older "low end" machines - it must also be a nightmare for the developper ! ( many commercial apps are only available for newer ARM only pocketpcs, so it is nearly a miracle that we still get so many different versions of Pocketscumm: MIPs, SH3, HPCs...)
