Is there any more 'realtime' developer chat on the net?

Postby MrMister » Oct 12, 2006 @ 7:08am

I appreciate much of the information I've gathered from these forums..theres a lot of useful information here. But I'm more of a realtime developer, I need to know the answer to some of my qestions in minutes, not days or weeks.

Is there any chat networks that any of you developers hang out on? I really cant believe there isnt one, since I've been on many channels dedicated to portable console dev like Gameboy advance, PSP, GPX2, etc...there HAS to be something related to pocket pc. If anyone knows of one, please post it here.

If not, would anyone be interested in starting a channel? irc.freenode.org hosts quite a few development channels and is quite 'noise free' compared to other irc servers I've been to.

I don't think the community is big enough to support an IRC channel, especially if you were looking for something real-time.
holy internets batman.

Thats a shame. I have quite a few ideas for projects on my pda and I'd like to see them come to the light, but lack of any realtime interaction is slowing me down some. Ah well, maybe pocketpc isnt as popular as I thought for the hobbyist in us. I know there are mailing lists and forums such as this, but *nothing* beats being able to connect to an irc server and start chatting away, even if no one knows the answer to any specific topics I want to talk about.

You don't necessarily need an IRC channel. You just need to form relationships with other developers, and get their IM information. :)

For a hobbyist, the PPC platform is still a blast to work on. The hardware could use a little boost though, since there haven't been any real innovations in awhile, but that also means that there are fewer things that can go wrong with the software.
