So every time you boot Linux, the entire Registry and Filesystem of the Pocket PC OS is deleted? BTW, what type of Pocket PC are you using?

You could always export the registry keys and store them on a storage card, then import them again when running CE again.

It's a known issue... the bootloader turns soft resets into hard resets on PocketPCs. Why would anyone use that, knowing that flaw, and then complain?

After reading all messages here I went ahead and bought the program. Great product. For now I am using it on an IPAQ 3650 but I will switch to a Jornada 568 soon. I hope I will not change my mind at that time.

Fuzzy John, just email support@dex-plor.com when you get your new device.

Randall:
You state that your registry is "a mess at times" and you use registry editor to clean it "as best you can" and that those who buy this software should "deal with it". That is no solution at all. It is indeed a hassel to get a new key each time a hard reset is done. It is not for you to dictate why and when users of these devices should do this.
By the way, 49% is not a "selected few"
I think you are encouraging the piracy of this software by displaying such an attitude.

In reply to the posts on keygens, this is not 3D Studio Max(dongle checking), it's a $14 Pocket PC program. Look at what the program does when it registers. What changes does it make and where does it store them. How can you save and restore that info. If your key will not work with the original program you downloaded then the system date(clue)or device serial number is being used during the install. This changes the key required each time the program is installed. A keygen would work but why bother... think about it.

and Randall....
Before someone simply removes the reg routine from the program and publishes a "light" version of it,
you should loose the attitude and work with the users. Remember Microsofts bullet proof XP Professional protection scheme ? 'nough said.

Snails, just email support@dex-plor.com with your new Product ID. Better yet, email me and I'll send you DEXplor 1.34 first.

Anonymous, DEXplor cannot be cracked by hacking the executable. A keygen is required. It took almost a year for a cracked version of DEXplor to be produced, and that was because I simply left a weakness in the security mechanism that I did not want to spend extra time correcting. It was more important to release my product than to worry about warez kiddies.

I have DEXplor version 1.34 ready for release. I have provided this version to select Registered Users based on need. This version uses the hardware Electronic Serial number for all Pocket PC 2002 devices, all iPaqs, and all Casio BE-300s. So the only devices that will not have permanent registration keys are SH3 and MIPS Pocket PC 2000 devices, and the Palmax @migo (in other words devices that have not even been in production for over a year).

I plan on releasing this version in the very near future, and will lock this thread at that time as this issue is resolved. DEXplor customers will be notified by email when the new version is available.

Feeling angry

Postby Unknown » Dec 30, 2003 @ 10:13am

I have another thing that really bothers me with this activation system...

I benefit of DExplor 1.34, so I don't have to update my key every time I do a restoration...

But I just changed my PocketPC, and I asked for a new Reg Key...

It was yesterday, and I still don't have my Reg Key... And now, I've got to go away from my house for a long week, without Internet, and I won't be able to use DExplor because of its registration system... So I'll have to find other software that could (at least for a while) allow me to do some of the things I do with DExplor...

I really think this is boring...

Yeah... I know that that's hollydays... etc... But I don't care... I bought a licence of this software last year, and I want to be able to use it without matters...

A lot of people criticized Microsoft Windows XP Product Activation, but at least, with Microsoft, you can activate Windows XP 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. And, what is more, with Windows XP, you have a 30 days period where you can use Windows without limitations, before having to activate it...

So, the only thing I hope is that I won't have to change my PocketPC again for a long time, after I get my new key (which I hope I'll get soon).

After this 'negative opinion', I will only say that if there wasn't this activation system, I would consider this software as really marvellous... But for now, it's only a great software, really great... Which maybe needs some update (after more than a year, it should be time, isn't it ?)

Goodbye and thank you again !

Hi. Registration Keys are typically processed once a day. At the time of my posting it has been less than 24 hours since you requested your new Registration Key.

I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Sorry...

Postby Unknown » Dec 30, 2003 @ 5:27pm

Thank you Dan !

I finally found a way to access the Internet, and so I could receive my Registration Key... ;-)

Thank you very much Dan... And sorry for my lack of patience...

I'm sorry for any inconvenience. PocketMatrix, which hosts the DEXplor website, has changed servers over the last week. This caused problems with the DEXplor email accounts, and they have just started working again in the last day.
