CF problem or PPC problem??

CF problem or PPC problem??

Postby HobbesAB » Sep 30, 2002 @ 2:14pm

I have an HP 568. I tried to use a CF card and the PPC tells me that it needs to format it in order to use it. I format it and I receive an error message - error code 31. I tried to use FlashFormat but it doesn't find the card. DEXplor sees it, but it lists nothing for it. Is my CF card bad or is it my HP 568??

Also, when I tried to transfer files over to the CF card on my desktop using a CF reader, I received an I/O error and the files were either corrupted or missing. On my laptop, using an adapter, my laptop can't detect the card anymore. It used to.

Here's another thing - on an older 258 Meg CF card, I kept receiving an error message when I ejected the CF card - I would get a blue screen and the 568 would ask me if I wanted to reset my PPC and lose all of my data. I would select NO and I would soft reset the machine and I would get back into the OS and everything would seem to work fine. I also used this card with the same CF reader.

Also, I would get a blue screen on my Win98 machine if I left the CF card in the reader too long.

Is it my CF card (damaged using my reader), my 568, or both??
Any help would be appreciated because my 1 year warranty expires in a few days.

One other thing, a CF card that I have rarely used in my CF reader and is in my HP 720 works on my 568. I don't receive any error message and it comes up just fine using File Explorer and DEXplor.
