You are incorrect.
The first Intel "Pentium" processor was debuted in 1993, the first processor to use the name Pentium.
The change in identification, to Pentium, was due to the increased mathmatical operations that the Pentium processor allowed. The leap from 486 to Pentium was more than just a marketting gimmick and an increase in megahertz, it was an entire different processor architecture which, at that time, revolutionized the market.
