Jornada 720 and Games...or not.

Postby tahoe916 » Jan 10, 2003 @ 10:35am

I just got a Jornada 720 off ebay for a really great deal, this thing is soooo much cooler than my 3760 (I know I gave up 32 MB of ram but the keyboard and widescreen are awesome!) I am wondering though if I have stepped of the high ledge of gamer infalibilty...are there a lot of games that support the 720, it is a StrongARm but the WinHPC thing kinda worries me...anyone know if quake and most PPC2002 apps will run on my 720 Thanks!

Snails now works on the Jornada 720. You might want to check that out at www.snailsgame.com If you own it for your PocketPC you can just download an update to install it to your HPC.

I have had my 720 for about 5 months time and I must say I have seen the lack of good game software first hand. There is always light at the end of the tunnel though... Mostly in the form of emulators.

I went ahead and registered my copy of pocketdos - and have been using it to play a ton of old dos games like ultima and battletech.

There is also a very good nes/gameboy emulator, YameCE(0.38g) - (at techmage's forgotten files) that I use all the time, old final fantasy games - zelda - smb - etc. You can also get a c64 emulator and a msx emulator that both work pretty well.

Just dont let that 206mhz go to your head, you're not gonna be able to run a SNES emu or quake1 very well :)

If you make a fake aygshell.dll file, and throw it in your Windows directory, SOME PPC software will work, but it won't be much.
holy internets batman.
