Finding Syndicate

Finding Syndicate

Postby aaroncorsi » Apr 17, 2003 @ 11:03pm

Hey! I just thought that i would let you all know that my game "Finding Syndicate" is actually going along fairly well, considering that i have to go to school still. But my spring break starts tomorrow, yay! :D Anyways, i would like to post a couple of screenshots, but i feel that they are too rough, and wouldn't represent the idea of the finished product faithfully yet. I decided to go all 2d on the graphics, and i will be working with a friend of mine who is really good at doing 3d animation for the cutscenes (yes, they will be videos, but they will also be an optional install). I am also getting a little help from him to make the backgrounds, but i will doing that mostly by myself, along with the script and the music. I decided that the combat will be fairly simple, because i want to put the emphasis more on character development, story development, and exploration. I am getting a lot of help on the engine from my programming teacher, too. Well, any ideas for how you would like to see the combat/control scheme/anything else? I kinda wanna have you guys pick out some stuff, so that way i will know how to make it, but the script is all me, baby!

wow, sounds like a great game. I'll definitely like to buy this when it comes out. By the way..could you be a little more descriptive with the battle scenes? Perhaps you could make the battle scenes go like zelda instead of moving to an entirely different screen.

actually, most likely, it'll be free. i will be doing this mostly for my own enjoyment, because i don't really like any of the games on ppc right now. the battle scenes will be seperate from the game, and be turn based. it will be a top down, arena style battle, expect a screenshot by the end of next week at the latest of a battle sequence. there will also be a few different long range weapons, but i realy like the idea of mostly melee combat for close range, and magic for long range. i'm probably gonna kick ryan (the 3d guy) out of the project because he doesn't wanna do any real work, and just wants to use old recycled models (not even good ones at that). i can do a good job on everything as far as that goes, though because i would finally have a reason to do a good hand-drawn animation sequence, and everything else (charachters, backgrounds) will be photoshopped from real pictures for a very original look. the music will mostly be stuff i already have that i think will fit it quite well. and i promise a kick arse script
