RAM vs ROM vs SD vs CF Read/Write speeds

RAM vs ROM vs SD vs CF Read/Write speeds

Postby tekka » Sep 22, 2005 @ 1:45pm

Well I just ordered one of the final remaining x50v units from the dell outlet and was reading up on it list of features and have some questions about the unit... was gonna get the x51v but i figured that the extra $175 i would save buying the x50v i can go out and buy 3GB worth of sd and compact flash cards compared to the 128mb extra rom....

anyways several questions poped up in my head...

1. RAM is for sure faster then ROM but axim uses Strataflash... how is that different from normal rom...

2. Ive read at some places that SD cards are even faster then ROM in read and write speeds, is that true???

3. if this is true then should i install all my apps to the SD card instead of ram or rom????

4. If SD really are faster, would spending extra cash on high speed SD cards make a huge difference???

thx in advance!!!
