Does anyone know about the new toshiba PCMCIA Hard Drives? At 299 for 2GB, it seems like a reasonable deal, but does having the same 3.3V pover drain as the Microdrive mean it will suck the battery the same way?If I'M going to have 2GB of storage, I want time to read it

It's not the voltage that really matters, it's more a question of the amperage. If it's under 500mA then it's good. I recall that Toshiba drive to be around 300mA, but I've forgotten. It's definitely better than a MicroDrive though.

Thx Moose! By the way, I'll be getting a PPC by the end of the year, and is the @migo still the best choice, regardless of the button press problem and the fact that there isn't a 64MB version?Thanks!

The @migo is still the best choice, in my opinion. It has a better screen, a more powerful battery, and is just as fast as the iPaq, but without those annoying sleeves. But you won't need the 64MBs if you get that 2GB HD, just install everything onto it, like I do with my MicroDrive. And it's flash upgradeable to the PocketPC2002 OS when it is released in October-ish.

It would be nice if the new iPaq has the XScale in it. If not, I will toss it out the window of purchasing choices. I am NOT buying anymore darn PPC's until I can get one faster than my buddies desktop PC's. (And really that is not that difficult. Almost there.)

Yeah, it's fully compliant with the ARM v.5TE instruction set and also supports both 16-bit "Thumb" instructions and integrated DSP instructions. Nice.<br><br>

I saw the toshiba PPC, and the 2 card slots looked cool, but they're not PCMCIA. Ive already got a lot of Type 2 PCMCIA cards so I want a PPC that can use them. And what's the XScale? A new, better processor?

It's the next generation of PPC processor's. Maybe it'll come out next year (with luck).

Yeah, with luck. We're looking at 400MHz style PPC's...that would be nice. I wouldnt mind having one of them Jornada's with the 64MB's though. I wonder...is it a reflective TFT or more so like the Casio's TFT?
