Well, considering that the technologie to project the display right to your retina is already available, ppc's getting more and more powerfull, and the input problem might be solved with , so I really think ppc's might be a viable alternative
to full blown desktop pc's

the internet projected right into your eye everywhere you want!

no-one noticing you are watching porn again!!

ah, sweet dreams :-)

nah i dont think that'll catch on with the public. i think people are more likely to go with those paper-like displays that you can fold up and put in your pocket.

the rich guys might use the retina stuff to look cool though. right before they go blind.

Your all forgeting one thing about running UT on a ppc. the resolution would be at 240x320 which is much less than the lower 640x480 settings on the pc version. That means it would run alot faster at that resolution. and with ppc becomming faster all the time. It's possible that in a year or two, you will see something like UT running on a ppc. Anything is possible. Pocketquake uses alot of FP math and it runs smooth.
Ya in a year or two with the 400mhz or better ppc and the powervr chip. But anyone who says they can run ut at 15 fps on there ppc as of now is a liar and a big one at that.

Hey, that PC Anywhere idea could very well work. You just have the home PC run UT and then it can be controlled over the net on your PPC, no processing power other than showing the streaming picture required.
I think you can watch movies on a Palm with that method (with VNC).

PPC just needs to be able to update its display at a fast enough framerate to make it look like the game. I tried Baldur's Gate 2 with some terminal emulation software or something and the images were fine statically...but the framerate was definitely less than 5. More like 1 or 2:)
It sure did look cool though [to the passerby].
