AHH! Help! Lost speaker audio after ROM upgrade

I just upgraded my ROM on my ipaq 3135 to rev. 1.65 from 1.46 via USB activesync and have no sound coming from the speaker.  I can get sound out of the headphone jack, but nothing from the speaker.  I tried restoring my old ROM and still have no sound.. <br><br>Has anyone experienced this or had it fixed ?  It would be nice if it were an easy fix!   Thanks guys!

Think a HARD RESET could fix it ?  Luckily I've only had it for 4 days and don't have anything important on it..

Welp - a hard reset don't do it. <br><br>Guess there's nobody around ...

if a hard reset didnt work then it probably isnt the sound settings... unless it retains that kind of info. i dunno, have you checked that yet?

Before doing anything rad, try the easy road. iPAQ is famous for the headphone jack bug. When you plug the headphones in, the jack turns off the speaker by pressing a little switch. When you pull the plug out, it works again. But in some units this little switch get stuck, so the problem is mechanical and not software related.

That could be it - I have a very small amount of sound coming from the speaker tho when there's nothing plugged into the jack - I'll root around in there tho to see if I can dislodge anything - I called compaq and they want me to send itr in for repair... the box will be here Thurs.  It would be great to send the box back empty <br><br>The other weird thing is when I was upgrading the ROM, when the progress bar show up on the Ipaq, There was a weird, thin dotted line going down the display, and some of the words were "faded" out where it said "blah blah .. updating ROM blah."

Not wanting to start a new bug - the other weird thing is that when I play the "welcome to windows media" (I did a hard reset) I get some really weird aphex twin style filter noise out fo the speaker, but I can recognise some of the sound ok and if I listen real close - the sounds are playing, but REALLY quiet,, .. crazy.
