file transfer between Palm OS and PPC

file transfer between Palm OS and PPC

Postby gartogg708 » Mar 3, 2002 @ 6:27pm

Does anyone know if it is possible to beam via IR from Palm OS to PPC and vice versa? Is there a program that will facilitate this. I have tried it and the devices "see" each other but cannot actually transmit. I would like to transfer contact information, notes, word docs, and spreadsheets. My supervisor at work has a Visor and would like to create to-do lists and such to beam to me, but we have been unable to accomplish this. I know, I know, he should have bought a PPC, and I tried to talk him into it, but he is pretty lame with this stuff and I guess the Visor was "dumb" enough for him to figure out. It seems to me that this should be possible, seeing that the 2 devices can see each other. It must just come down to programming.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

I believe the program "PeaceMaker" allows you to transfer data between the two platforms over irDa.

I used Peacemaker to send all my info from my defunct Palm V to my iPAQ. It works fine, but you'll have to edit a lot of stuff on the PPC afterwards.

Crosswind technique: "Using your peripheral vision, react to body movements, gasps, groans, and shouts from the other side of the cockpit, and always remember that it's better to be lucky than good."

For your E-125 try http://home.netcom.com/~johnmcd/ for free!

If you want to tranfers "real" files though you do need some extr software (on the Visor/palm side) as Palm OS only does xfers PIM stuff. E.g. BeamBox from palmgear.

Pocket PC2002 does, in fact, have this ability built in. I used to to transfer all of my contacts and memos to the PPC from my PalmIIIX.
