Great Guide: Encode DivX Videos for PPCs

Great Guide: Encode DivX Videos for PPCs

Postby CyberNomaD » Apr 7, 2002 @ 6:43am

First let me start off by saying I am a new iPAQ 3835 owner.

I have a home theater and plenty of dvds and was pleased to find an article on how I could make my DVDs readily available for my PPC.

It is amazing how good (not great) these movies look on the PPC. It is also amazing at the small size of the PPC DivX file. I followed the great instructions found at:

My first choice was HAPPY GILMORE (being that it is just about golf season here in New England - :P Go Pats! ).

The file size after conversion was 160MB. I wish it was 120 or under (any help on converting the file so it fits on a 128 SD card would be appreciated). Is there a way to force the movie to be 120mb or less?

I split the movie into 3 parts at specific key file locations and then created a TEST movie also (a small clip of the movie - preview if you will).

The DivX player for PPC is awesome :!:
MP3s play very nicely, as do DivX movies.

I would love to get some Sopranos on my PPC, but my TAPES for season three got taped over... have to restart from Episode 6 and up :(

I am enjoying my iPAQ 3835.

If anyone has any tips or links regarding converting DVDs and other multimedia files to the iPAQ, I would appreciate you posting a follow up and/or link.
