I haven't experienced any lock-ups by turning it off and on with the card still in. Be aware though that it drains the batteries real fast.

In fact, I am using it right now to reply to your question! My brightness is at 5 (quite readable) and speed is Standard and I am losing a few percent of battery power every minute (maybe more than that... I've lost 15% since I started writing this!)

I imagine you might get a little better battery life using Power Save mode and the lowest brightness setting (or even turn the brightness off if you can read it). But, frankly, it's the card that's really using all the juice. I might give it a test later to see if there is any significant difference in battery life with the lower brightness and power settings but right now she's due for a little R+R, rest and recharge.

And yes, I am using it with the A620.

Zach: Thanks for the info. I'm glad to hear it works with the A620, but its pretty sad to find out its that hard on the battery. By the sound of it, you must not get more than 30 mins of usage with it before it has to be recharged. :(

Are you using the latest ROM revision and the WM2003 driver? I'm wondering if that may help. Really, what good is WiFi if you can only use the device for a short period of time?

I presume you can access the card memory fine with the Asus.

In my case, most of the time the device would be run either out of the cradle or with the power cord plugged in while I develop a networking API to use with Warlords III. But I would still like to have enough unteathered time to download email and view PPC formated websites.

I certainly like the idea of having 120+ MB of storage available without swapping cards, but I'm not sure its worth it if the card drains the batteries in 3 hours - kind of defeats the purpose of long battery life.

But, its still rated one of the better cards out there, and the fact that it actually works as advertised is a plus. Sigh... decisions... decisions...
