1-3? I'd say about 10 years.

After all, right now the difference between ARM devices emulating x86's and real x86's is about 15 or 16 years.

If you yelled for 8 years, 7 months and 6 days, you would have produced enough sound energy to heat one cup of coffee.

If you fart consistently for 6 years and 9 months, enough gas is produced to create the energy of an atomic bomb.

I disagree; the main market for PDA's is to be organizers and not full computers.

Thus, there won't be much market pressure to make PPC's very fast.

I kind of agree with Damian here. I guess it'll really depend on how well the 3G telephones take off - if there really is a market for broadband video streaming, etc, on the hoof and there are services around to provide readily-accessible content then I think we'll see the PDA/mobile combos evolve quite rapidly. While there's no real content or availability and nobody knows if people actually want (or could use) that kind of thing, ... things aren't going to progress all that fast (hence the XScale coming a full 7 years after StrongARM and not actually being much different).

i think that they might try to merge the whole pocket pc and laptop busniuss making full fledge laptops in something a slightly bigger than a ppc. the main things that takes up space in a laptop is the keyborad and monitor. if you could have a projection keyboard and a projection monitor well think of the possibilitys...or even a foldable monitor (check this out )
