I'm just "renting" my modem from Comcast for my cable broadband. The reason being it's about $3 a month and we get lots of lightning and power surges out here in Redneckville and the thing has already been fried twice in a year, both time within a month of each other, and summer is approaching again which means more lightning. Since I'm renting it from them then it's their property which means they replace it free when it does get zapped and I don't have to worry about it.

The max thoroughput might make it possible... I mean, 1000 Mb/s is 125 MB/s. There's ATA133, not to mention Ultra 320 SCSI. Both can theoretically write data faster than 1 gigabit.

Of course, the actual speed is a totally different matter.

No harddrive, to my knowledge, has ever been tested to exceed 75MB/sec.

Well, that's still faster than the 12.5 mbit max that 100baseTX offers.

I think I'm going to buy a RAM PCI array for my next computer. RAM is so cheap it will probably be worth it. Then I won't have a slow hard drive, just 20GB of RAM. Instantly load applications and such, sounds good to me.

another solution, that might work, is use an ethernet cable from an ethernet card on your computer. I do this with my xbox, so i dont have to spend money on a router. I have a USB DSL modem, and an ethernet cable runs to my xbox. Actually, it is a crossover cable. What you could do instead is run an ethernet cable to the WAP, and try that.
Careful, don't get crushed under the weight of my stupidity... the think hurts
