Software for the PPC that needs to be created.

I've been pondering making a drive mounter myself...which is what a mass storage USB type deal would be anyway.

I sync via WiFi all the time, and really that is the only way it works out to be any good...since any other method is most likely too small.

Without a custom adapter, i think the only way to do it is over activesync.

holy shizzie...you're saying write something for the ppc that makes it's stuff look like an generic network dive? i dunno...that may be a bit beyond my level of devotion. :-D

Though if someone were to find a whitepaper or good info on the protocol for such a thing...I might be convinced.

[edit: yes, I did say 'shizzie']

I thought that would be easier than writing a client for the PPC that emulates a USB mass storage device. I'll see what I can dig up though, your probably right that it is hard.

[edit]Moment of clarity, perhaps porting/ripping large chunks out of the SAMBA server could do pretty well?[/edit]

Yeah Mac would be cool, but a Linux version would be even better. I'm buying an old laptop and I'm putting Debian/GNU Linux on it and instead of running a version of Windows too, I would rather be able to just have Linux and sync my PPC with it. I'm sure there are alot of other Linux users who would love it too.

i don't do mac...and i don't do linux...sorry...

saw that other thread about the cascading start menu...there's something that the ppc is in desperate need of.

Check out my reply there :P

Though I do wish for one that DOESN'T freeze my PPC for a good minute the first time i load up the start menu (ie after reboots)

Hehe, probably not. I just like Linux though, because it is so customizable and stable.

With the world getting more and more commercial... and Microsoft paying governments more and more money to shun Linux (and indeed willing to pay people to use their products), Linux has probably reached its peak, unfortunately...

Back on topic... USB Mass storage device thingy would be v. cool :)
