It uses nothing special. It uses the XScale LCD controller. There's no magic chip like Tom's seems to think.

If there were a magic chip it would have to programmed for directly to take advantage of.

I never thought I would say this but James is right. I've owned way too many PPCs in my lifetime and it has been my experience that the PDAs with special chips like the ATI and MediaQ often show the worst performance compared to those with without graphics chips.

Sponge, what PPCs without graphic chips have inferior performance? My 3800 sucked because of changes with the way it worked with GAPI. I can't think of any others that performanced just as bad as the ones with graphic chips on board. Just curious.

The 3955 doesn't have any graphics chip I believe, and yet it's nowhere near that of an Asus or 2215.
