Pocket Midtown Madness

Postby Guest » Jun 17, 2004 @ 4:26pm

My 300MHz PC with Voodoo 1 ran the first Midtown Madness just fine. I had to bring down the detail, but it was definitely more than playable. However current pocketpc's are capable of that graphical detail. AFAIK, they have no floating point unit, no usefaul graphics acceleration for games, or even sound acceleration.

The Rasterization stage of a 3d pipeline is a big burden for todays CPUs. In particular if you want to do perspective correct texture mapping (i am not even taliking bilinear here).
I'd say without some form of 3d acceleration it is out of question.

ps. I guess most 3d engines today on PPC dont use perspective correct texture mapping. Maybe few texel are correct with linear interpolation in between.

No, I've never seen that, I've never seen anyone drive their garbage out to the curb and bang the hell out of it with a stick. No, I've never seen that.

Crosswind technique: "Using your peripheral vision, react to body movements, gasps, groans, and shouts from the other side of the cockpit, and always remember that it's better to be lucky than good."

Your thumb can move the joystick and press a button too, that's why he sucked on the video.
And with the other hand he held the camera.
But I still think it's a fake too.
