There's a new version of FpseCE out since like 2 days ago :). No really big new features, but a lot of fixes and stuff compared to the bit-bigger-0.093-release :). Also, qEMU is also ported (never tried it though), and that 3D shoot 'em up game is also in development. No HL2-like releases or anything, but it's something.

Speaking of HL2, did you guys try out Splinter Cell 3 (single player demo) yet? OMG those graphics surpass HL2 in some ways! it's really good looking on my system :).

After playing what probably are the three top FPSs, D3, HL2, and Farcry. Doom3 had the most wow factor when I first played it, focusing on lighting, but the game was repetitive, HL2 had good graphics but I enjoyed the physics based gameplay more. Farcrys graphics were just amazing and had a totally different style focusing on realistic, and natural wide open terrain. The gameplay was also more suited to me, as I never played the whole open jungle enviroment as realistic as this before.

I'd say I'm more interested in what the Farcry engine is capable of (maybe my dreams of a totally open GTA3 style FPS), but a better designed game with the Doom3 engine would also be very interesting because the engine itself definately has a lot of potential. The Chronicles of Riddick deserves some mention too as it also had a great engine.
