As far as I know, Lucas hasn't and WILL NOT release the source to the SCUMM engine. So anything you find will just be some sort of clone. I am not sure how true to the original it would be.

I do remember seeing a project that was cloning SCUMM, but it wasn't very far along and was uber-buggy. But the source was available.

Lucasarts are tight wads. They have amazing games, but they are so secretive about everything... i guess that s why they can still sell their archives for 30 bux a pop. bastards. i'd love to work for them :)

Paul, let me explain what the pocket scumm engine is:

.

That's it. And from what I've gathered based on the apparent knowledge of the programmer, that's what it's status will remain at. And you know there is no possible way this kid is going to be able to create an emulated scumm engine, people have been trying to do this for over a decade to no avail. And this guy just now discovered that Delphi is easy and fun to use.... But hey, if it does come out, I'll shit my pants. :)

no sorry i have to disagree. there are plenty of scumm clones. granted they cant actually play the original games (obviously) but they use the same kind of system...

sure, some arent finished yet and others are.... 'on hold', but i use which is essentially a scumm clone and is really great.

i pm'ed kaiton but he hasnt responded. i want the source code that hes done so far so i can work with it. nevermind. i'll start from scratch. its mainly just a sprite engine and a script parser. bah!

Indiana Java is NO WHERE NEAR the scumm engine.

While we are talking about this, I guess "clone" is bad word to use. Emulated would be a much better term, although emulation usually refers to the hardware not the software. Anyone can create a badly executed clone, but to emulate is completely different.

Except for the ability to play the original games using the original data files. Unless those features were recently added.

Like I said, anyone can create a poorly executed clone.
