Mission Statement

Re: Mission Statement
Loosely related, I would like to point out that a chat room might disuade this type of thing. But then, I have to say that the chat would take away from the 'flavor' of the site. But then, it would be nice right now, as I see that quite a few of us are online.

Just a thought.

I think Matt nailed it. It's what I would like PM to be. Think I even said that a couple of times. Let's take Brighthand as in example (no moans, please). It's good to find some tips, but that's all. I come here to learn, give advice (well, I think I did once, at least) AND have a good time. Lately it's been more of good time and less learning, but PM has the potential. If we get a little attitude adjusment and you guys can launch all those ideas, PM will fly.

About the encoding team, you said you couldn't use nothing like a Bugs cartoons for instance. So what do you plan to offer? What will people come here to dl?
I would suggest the creation of a dl section with themes (sounds, images, backgrounds, etc) and stuff for the PPC. There's some really talented people here, and this kind of thing attracts crowds.
A second suggestion I would make would be about the how-to's. Not only the "How to make your PPC glow at night" kind but those more simpler and basic, like "How to connect to the Internet" or "How to run videos". Yes, it's pretty basic stuff, but the kind of thing that you CAN'T find easily on the net.

I like the simple How-To thing A LOT!

I offer my editorial services to this! Please. I act as editor for EVERY document that goes out the door of my company. There is not one site for PPC out there that has a site with INTELLIGENTLY written docs. Most are laced with mispellings and gramatical errors, not to mention poor formulation and flow.

Paul and Luci......like that Mumbo Jumbo dude. He asked two questions both dealing with Windows Media Player pretty much. Obviously he did not know the answer or where to find it if it exists.
That would be nice. My writing is far from good, but even I find errors on these pages. I go ballistic when I read a technical paper in portugues with grammar and spelling flaws. That sure would put us apart from the crowd.

The basic stuff would be awsome. You only find "how to interface your PPC with a UNISYS workstation" kind of tutorials. What people need is the meat and potatoes. And for desert throw in the the technical and to-complicated-for-a-mortal-joe kind of things.

i'm not sure where i fit in, in all this, but i'll try to help. My programming skills are umm lacking, my graphics skills are = 0 and my writing is ho-hum. I can do reviews but that's about the extent of it. Maybe a how-to, but i don't know how to do anything of excitment :( I won't be posting very much in the coming months mainly because there isn't that much exciting or good to post about. I'll keep up on the boards, but mostly just throw in a post when the thread warrents my comments. I'm not sure whats changed, or why I've become so disenchanted with the PPC scene, but I don't really find that gleem i used to see on the PPC world. Maybe i'm burn't out on PPC's or maybe its just time for me to come up with a better plan for my spare time.

I can't say that Chucks graphic skill=0

I enjoyed the stick-man animations - they were funny in a simplistic way. I wish there were more of them.

Nice text Matt, I agree. I could also encode some videos if you want me to. I have a fairly fast (800Mhz PIII,128Mb) computer and a 2500/250 kbps ADSL connection at home. I haven't got a PPC to test those vids on but if I know the settings that shouldn't be a problem :)
