HP inches closer to Compaq takover

Postby Chris Edwards » Mar 10, 2002 @ 1:14am

Well, actually... PM hasn't paid for it :)...

The only money I've received from pm was $1700CDN, which is how much I put into it at the beginning (hosting costs were huge then).

The same goes for matt (although a different amount)..

Our first month of profit will be next months... And we're still working out the minor details with that, but for the most part we've agreed that it will go back into the site...

And I'm not 15, I'm 16 :).. I'll be 17 on the 28th of this month.

i'd go built in wifi...

Here's what I'll be doing:

Min out on ram from dell, and buy the ram for much cheaper somewhere else... that'll save like $400.

My current laptop is 11 pounds, and I take it to school everyday, and to work, etc... I'd be happy to a lighter laptop... i wish they had the inspiron 4200 out...

Oh, and i am running a server off this sorta :)... Maybe I'll just go with 1GB of ram, but with the hd speeds of laptops, it be great to be able to turn off the swap.... speaking of hd speeds... I hope dell puts in the 40GB 5400rpm drive instead of the 4500rpm drive that they have in there right now.... Maybe I'll just min-out on the HD and buy a drive from IBM... probably about the same price.

I'll remind you that i'm buying this in may, so the prices will have dropped by then... and my parents are paying for half, cause i'm giving my dad my current laptop (he has a 150mhz one right now).

Well I've got a 1.3Ghz Athlon with Geforce three, 5.1 Dolby digital encoded Surround sound and 21" monitor with 16x DVD and 16x CDRW with 40GB HD. And my new laptop will have to take the place of this thing. It's 3.5 feet high, with my monitor adding another 27", this thing is huge, I couldn't possibly fit it into a dorm room comfortably. The 300+ water cooling system I have lets it OC to about 1.6GHz and add about 20 MHz to my GF3 easily.
I want to replace this in my laptop, so I'm spending a pretty penny, that in all seriousness, should go to my car and education. I'm not too big on impressing people with some spectacular car, so I don't care really if I go down to something like a Honda Civic instead of my planned Acura RSX Type-S. And I've got scholarships for my education, so I think I can handle replacing my computer in a mobile form at some expense. But this is two months from now, the price will most definitely drop, of course the newer stuff will be out by then and I'll want it instead, but that's the deadly cycle, isn't it?

u guys have too much money. or your parents just buy you everything.
i'm running an Athlon (classic) 650, 256 mb RAM, 40 gig disk, and a matrox g450 running two old 15 inch monitors. but one of them has a funny p[icture because its circa 1994.

spent a grand on my bike though. that was money well spent, not like spending 4 grand (or 2.7 in english) on a laptop.
Why?

Ok.. my current beast:

Laptop: Inspiron 7500
11 pounds with dvd/battery

6x dvd
ati rage mobility -p (8mb) video card
256mb RAM
30GB HD
internal winmodem
xircom realport nic in pcmcia type 3
15" SXGA+ (1400x1050) screen
p3-700mhz

It's ok, but it's to darn heavy!, and would be better for my dad, as he doesn't travel as much as me :).
