NEC MobilePro 300

Hmm. In the same thread, several people seem to think its a fake or prototypes from when Toshiba first announced their intention to make PPCs. Judging by the pictures, i am inclined to agree. I also noticed something else: If it is actually an Xscale device, why is it running PPC2000 instead of PPC2K or CE.NET? Something smells fishy...

However, earlier this week, i remember seeing a press release of an Xscale device (can't remember manufacturer - might even have been Hitachi, i think!). It used an Xscale cpu and had 64meg, CF & SD, built-in BT. It also had no buttons on the front, but used a multi-directional jog-dial on the side. If anyone knows which one i'm referring to, please let me know!

Ah, found it:

Hitachi's new Xscale PPC (only for Japanes markets though):

Acer also plans to release a Xscale PPC sometime this year.
Also, check out the story entitled "First Xscale software here" - Its a money management app. Seeing all ARM apps are compatible with Xscale, it can't be the first. The reasoning behind the statement is that it runs on a 200mhz cpu, but would do really well with a 400mhz cpu. Um... Wouldn't that make PocketQuake the first Xscale software? :)
Also, Intel have apparently said the volume production of Xscale cpus won't begin until the end of April. If so, given the time it'll take to manufacture, ship to PPC manufacturers, etc when do you think we'll REALLY see these devices?

Oh... that's too bad. The Visie OS kicks major ass.
