Battery Life

Postby Dan East » May 20, 2002 @ 5:51pm

Battery life really sucks on my iPaq 3630. I only get around 30-45 minutes with backlight on low and maxing out the CPU playing a game. If I'm in bright light conditions I turn off the backlight which helps, and when not playing games it can go a few hours with that type of usage.

The battery life on an iPaq 38xx seems FAR better than on a 36xx. In my experience anyway.

You can buy a DIY battery upgrade here for ipaq, I really don't feel like replacing the battery of my 3630, but maybe you are a bit more adventurous :)

Hmm...and I thought my EM-500's battery life was poor. I get near 4 hours playing JUST games (like Snails, Chopper Alley, Argentum, etc.) at the medium backlight brightness. It's overclocked to 180Mhz and an MMC is always in. I guess it's not so bad after all. :?
Two cupcakes were in an oven. One turned to the other and said "Damn, it sure is hot in here" and the other one said "HOLY SHIT! A TALKING CUPCAKE!"

When I used to play Snails on full backlight I would get about 4 hours to the battery. Ha! Go Jornada! 8)

You probably didnt use a CF card. When I use the CF card, I get 2 and a half hours of constant Snails on full brightness :D

Hmm... My 3630 keeps living after playing Snails for about 20 minutes on each lesson, and I have enough energy to listen MP3s while going home... [standard Lithium-Polymer battery, medium backlight brightness]

TSC, did you get the flip-cover for your Jornada? If you did, throw it away. If you knock the cover in the middle and it is over the screen, the screen will BREAK. The pointy part of the plastic flap that holds the stylus into the inside of the cover touches the screen when it is closed. Mine broke when I rolled over with my Jornada in my pocket. It costs $90 to repair, so take my advice.
