At the very least I'm going to popup a message the first time Varium is run on each e740 device indicating that performance is sub-par because of the poor hardware design of the e740. We may go so far as stating the device is not supported, and the user runs Varium as-is at their own risk.

It is simply a disclaimer for our protection. That should prevent uninformed users from publicly complaining about our software's performance (and blaming it on the software), or a reviewer trying to base a review on that hardware. Although at this point I would think that only a very poor reviewer would try to review any game on an e740.

Ya, I'm for the popup box, or a message on the website before download, but still let it be available for the e740. This way, people would be able to see that Varium is publicly not supporting the Toshiba e740, but they can also try to play it and see exactly why they're not supporting it. Something like "Toshiba e740 not supported due to poor hardware design, use at your own risk." next to the "Supports H39xx, Jornada 56x, Toshiba e310" etc. That would be the best bet, I think.

Sponge ... noooo. The point is to publicize that they are NOT supporting the Toshiba e740. They want as many people to know as possible that Toshiba isn't doing their job. I think it should be a message run every startup, too, not just on the first initial startup. If there's only one thing I've learned from school is that people don't learn from being told only once. Redundancy is the key to education.

Kzinti, there is a feature to use GDI blitting or GAPI blitting in PocketDivX or PocketTV, I forget. But I don't know. My initial thought when GAPI blitting wasn't faster was that GDI blitting was accelerated by the ATI chip. This thought grew in my mind through many examples. I'm sure someone smarter and holding more developer skills than I would have tried this before hand, however.

Moose: Don't count on it. You'd be surprised the stupid shit "better" developers will do. We all overlook things ;)

Well people should know before they spend the time to download and install it.

This problem is alot more complex on the marketing side than everyone makes it out to be. It is simply NOT worth the headaches that it presents. I will discuss the matter with the team privately simply because this matter can potentially destroy the backend.

We aren't pissed at ATI, nor Toshiba, and this isn't any kind of revenge. We just need to protect our own asses otherwise the game will not survive. The engine is far too important to be hanging like this.

I'd rather have a MIPS E-125 version so that I could loan my old device to someone to play multiplayer with :P

Of course I have had no contact with the e740, so my opinion is probably skewed.

Yeah, one of my friends has an e740, so I would like to play Varium with him, even if I don't get one myself (which I probably will).

I appreciate that you guys are reconsidering this. I feel so... so... loved. ;) (don't puke, I was j/k, of course)
Die, Palm, Die. If that offended you, then get rid of your Palm OS device.
